Effigy_Power Finally, some plot again... I wanted to explain what's going on without having to resort yet again to Phil explaining it... as in the actual game, it's much more fun to explain things like that through the players or through NPCs...

PS: The text on the letter is a little hard to read, I see... It's such a gorgeous script tho... ah, no issue, here's a transcript of what the letter says:

The Element of Spite

As per our most hidden secret, we know that there are more elements than just water, fire, air and earth.
The elements of shadow and light have been somewhat publicly spoken of, but the average scholar knows very little about the 12 dark elements.

Hidden within the essence of every demon is a small core of one of them, the ultimate and endless spite, born from the hate they nurse aimed at all things angelic or holy.
Brought out by the right ritual and commanded by a powerful spellcaster, the Element of Spite can be used to conjure a deep fog, which not only envelops a wide area, but actually transports everything inside slowly to a realm of pure and utter evil, as per command by the ritual-caster.
Should said caster also have control over rare, psychic abilities, the fog could also be used to conjure up powers of immense nightmarish appearance, enough to scare anyone caught in it close to death.
Face with these facts, we must ensure that this knowledge, both of the Element itself and of the ritual, must never fall into the hands of the Mind Flayers of the Underdark, who are powerful psychics and are known to dabble in the Arcane.
We shall therefore hide these scrolls and scraps of text in our sanctified depository in the Mountains of Alhambra.

There it shall be safe from the enemy, yet available to us for further research.

alparrott I love how many layers there are to your work. Snarky humor, snide satire, social commentary, and a deep, fascinating story full of very complex mythology... I guess, just like your average RPG, but with a personality. And an episode like this certainly drives that point home beautifully. Well done, Eff-Bomb.
