Yes, night sometimes falls quickly in these games, especially when the GM wants it to be.
The effect of Gareth's staff illuminating the group turned out nice... not sure if I will make this a constant feature for the rest of the story, since it plays at night, but it does add a nice amount of zazz to it.
@Mag: It will all just turn out to be a weather-balloon within swamp-gas, illuminated by the setting sun, a very low Mars and some kids with fireworks.

Those are some sweet effects on the landscape, the hazyness of the sunset looks almost like a stillframe from one of those african nature documentaries.

I was playing some Far Cry 2... a mediocre game, but immensely beautiful in it's depiction of Africa... that's where the colors are from.
