@Guy: Our GM had some issues playing female NPCs... so he often tried to roll that off onto female players. And then make it extra-embarrassing by making them flirt with someone (usually Gareth). Also usually he then had to do it himself. ^_^

I always felt weird DMing girl NPCs that the PCs inevitably flirted with...
